The athlete recorded her fastest time of 1:54.61 last year in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her 800m campaign with a win at the all-female Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic champion, who secured third place at the World Championships recently, excelled in an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season affected by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell finished second again in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (1:58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this year so it was likely less of a struggle for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere at the event is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The women-only meet packed the stadium in its second edition, bringing a party atmosphere to traditional track, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting traditional winners' medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena Williams, who is wed to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was on hand to award the victors with their crowns.

Last year's winners received $60,000 (£44,603) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The event also drew several top athletes, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and global record breaker Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, finishing in 4:17.78.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from the recent Paris Games, won the 100m and 200m double.
