🔗 Share this article Female Victim Knifed in Birmingham City Bus Stop Attack Dies A police cordon remained in place during the weekend The female victim who was stabbed to her neck area in an unprovoked attack at a bus stop in Birmingham has passed away, authorities verified. The deceased woman, who was 34, came under attack in Smallbrook Queensway, right beside Bullring shopping complex, shortly before 21:00 GMT Friday evening, according to police statements. The incident occurred just outside the Bullring shopping centre on Friday The suspect, twenty-one, was presented at Birmingham Magistrates Court Monday morning, charged over the violent incident. He was previously accused with attempted murder but following the victim's passing the charge has been updated to include murder. Law Enforcement Actions The force said officers would be in the downtown area through Monday providing public assurance, while detectives assisted the victim's relatives. Authorities confirmed they believed the attack was "unprovoked" Detectives are appealing any eyewitnesses who may have seen Mr Rafael, who is described as a Black British national, reportedly dressed in grey athletic wear, dark headwear, athletic shoes and rucksack. Incident Location The stabbing happened near the Bullring shopping centre, opposite the main entrance of New Street railway station. Police said they classified it as "unprovoked attack" and Det Insp James Nix said they were working to understand why it happened. Witness Accounts Shalini Doal, employed in the vicinity, recounted the emergency response when she finished her work period around 10 PM Friday night. She characterized the location as "quite chaotic", adding that some of her colleagues heard loud disturbances at about 21:00. "Many my colleagues use transit services, ride the tramline... our safety is at risk essentially, here in the city centre." Ashley Birks, 25, from Stoke-on-Trent, mentioned visiting to Birmingham fairly regularly visiting his partner resident there, and was concerned about what had happened. "It makes me worried for my girlfriend," he said. "She doesn't drive and works at all of the big music venues... and to think a totally random act [happened], you know, it's terrible."
